Book DescriptionBy 2020, depression will be the most significant disease burden in the world, second only to heart disease. One in four people will suffer from mood disorders at some stage in their lives. Most of the population - families, friends, collegues - will be touched by these illnesses. A recent World Health Organization report highlighted that depression was the leading cause of disability internationally and that bipolar disorder was close behind at number six. These conditions are also responsible for increased rates of premature death – mainly a result of the tragedy of suicide.
