Held at the recently-renovated Palazzo Strozzi, Cezanne in Florence provides a unique opportunity for art lovers to admire dozens of Paul Cezanne's masterpieces, which are usually scattered around the world. The exhibition honours both the painter and the two art collectors, Egisto Paolo Fabbri and Charles Loeser, who contributed to Cezanne's fame by purchasing around 50 pieces during a time when the artist was largely ignored. The paintings come from some of the most famous international institutions, including the National Gallery and the Royal Academy in London, the Hermitage Museum of St Petersburg, the Galleries of Modern Art in Florence and Rome and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The show also includes important paintings by other artists with whom Fabbri was in contact, such as Pissarro, Van Gogh, Sargent, Denis, Cassatt, Weir and La Farge.
