Великолепное подарочное издание. Книга в суперобложке с трехсторонним золотым обрезом и ляссе.

As with Lawrence's previous novel, the magnificent "Sons and Lovers", "The Rainbow" focuses on a single Nottinghamshire family, this time the Brangwens, who have worked on their own land for several generations. The fascinating story begins with the marriage of Tom Brangwen, a sturdy farmer, to Lydia, a widowed Polish woman, who has been left isolated after the death of her husband and has had to raise her daughter, Anna, alone. When Anna is older, she marries one of her stepfather's nephews, Will Brangwen, and soon gives birth to their first child, Ursula. Like her parents and grandparents, Ursula Branwgen's existence is inextricably bound up with her relationships with the opposite sex, notably in her case with a dashing soldier named Anton Skrebensky. Ursula's development is continued in the book's sequel, "Women in Love", but "The Rainbow" stands on its own as a tremendous portrayal of the inner workings of family life.
